On the first floor of the magnificent 17th century villa at the heart of the Cimiez olive groves where the great master lived until the end of his life, the Matisse Museum opened in 1963. It presents a large collection of paintings, preparatory drawings, sculptures and other objects.
The chronological display of his works demonstrates Henri Matisse's artistic evolution, from 1890 to his death.
Temporary exhibitions are held every year. They are the basis for conference cycles and screenings of art-house films.
A must for fans of Matisse!
