The Van Miêu or the Temple of Literature is a Confucian temple in Hanoi. It's also the first and oldest monument to education in Vietnam. It was founded in 1070 under the Ly and Tran Dynasties, and the Temple of Literature became the country's first university in 1076.
The temple was built along the lines of the one in Confucius' birthplace in the Chinese province of Shandong. There are five court yards divided by three pathways and several doors.
