In the Mont des Arts cultural centre, you'll find the Museum of Musical Instruments (or "MIM" as it is known, for Musée d'Instruments de Musique) with its fabulous collection of more than 1,200 instruments from all over the world, dating from all ages. However there is something unusual about this museum. Although you'll find that these musical instruments possess a rare beauty, the whole point is really the sound they make, so the museum offers the opportunity for you to hear their music, too. In this way the museum launched a new museological concept, with its samples of more than 200 musical extracts, from Greek antiquity to the music of Varèse of the 20th century. Enjoy this feast for the ears as well as the eyes.
